Experience Yogyakarta with all your senses! This day tour combines authentic Javanese culinary arts in the historic district of Kota Gede with fascinating architecture and local history.
08:00 AM – Hotel Departure: We will pick you up from your hotel in Yogyakarta and take you to the historic district of Kota Gede, which was once the first capital of the Islamic Sultanate of Mataram.
09:00 – 12:00 AM - Traditional Cooking Class & Bicycle Market Visit: Immerse yourself in the secrets of Javanese cuisine!
• The Market Stroll: Together, we hop on our bicycles and ride to the vibrant local market of Kota Gede. Here, we shop together for fresh vegetables, aromatic spices, and all other authentic ingredients for our menu.
• The Cooking: Upon returning, it is time to put on your aprons! For about two hours, we chop, cook, and learn together. Under expert guidance, you will prepare traditional delicacies.
• Lunch: You will then enjoy the food you cooked yourselves in a cozy setting as a well-deserved lunch. It simply tastes delicious and is incomparably fresh!
02.00 PM - Culture & History – Visit to Rumah Pesik
Feeling well-refreshed, the afternoon takes you on a journey through time. We will visit the impressive Rumah Pesik, a historic Javanese-colonial heritage site in Kota Gede.
• Admire the unique architecture of this traditional mansion.
• Discover fascinating stories about Kota Gede's past as a center of Javanese silversmithing and culture.
